Professional Area Rug Cleaning
The right cleaning method for every rug, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Area rugs come in a wide range of fibers, constructions, and conditions. Treating them all the same way is how damage happens. Towers assesses each rug individually and selects the appropriate cleaning method before any work begins.

Area Rugs Are Not the Same as Wall-to-Wall Carpet
Wall-to-wall carpet is designed and installed to be cleaned with standard hot water extraction methods. Area rugs are different. Many are made from natural fibers, hand-woven constructions, or specialty materials that respond poorly to excess moisture, high heat, or aggressive cleaning agents.
Cleaning an area rug incorrectly can cause color bleeding, shrinkage, fiber damage, or backing deterioration none of which can be reversed. This is why the assessment step matters before any cleaning begins.
What We Evaluate Before We Begin
01
Fiber Type
Wool, synthetic, natural fiber, and blended rugs each have specific cleaning requirements. We identify the fiber type before selecting a method.
02
Construction
Hand-woven, machine-made, tufted, and flatweave rugs respond differently to moisture and agitation. We account for how the rug was made.
03
Dye Stability
Some rug dyes are sensitive to water or cleaning agents. We test for colorfastness before proceeding.
04
Current Condition
Staining, pet contamination, odor, and general soiling all affect how we approach the cleaning and what results are realistic.

That Rug May Be Worth Cleaning Before You Replace It.
Area rugs are often an investment whether a quality synthetic purchased for a family room or a hand-woven piece that has been in the family for years. When they show wear, staining, or odor, the instinct can be to replace them. Before that decision is made, it is worth knowing what professional cleaning can realistically accomplish.
We will assess the rug with the evaluation, including whether cleaning is likely to produce meaningful results given its current condition. If it cannot be significantly improved, we will tell you that clearly before you spend anything.
